3D Spray Imaging with tomographic reconstruction
A two camera stereo setup already can image sparse sprays in 3D space together with its 3D droplet velocity field, applying time correlated double exposures known from Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). The spatial resolution scales with the number of cameras and the number of pixels per sensor allowing the investigation of sprays at high droplet densities. Whenever a droplet is detected by more than one camera view, it can be located in 3D space based on tomographic reconstruction and LaVision’s Volume Self-Calibration. Even transient spray phenomena can be investigated in 3D space and time applying high-speed image recording.
